David and WendiSue Nash didn’t plan on Helena. But when family pulled them north, they loaded what they needed into an RV and made the drive from Texas. They arrived in Montana without a client list, without a local reputation, without a single referral. Just two people who knew how to clean and were willing to prove it.
They got to work. Within months they’d secured their permits, earned their insurance and bonding, and registered as licensed independent contractors in Montana. No shortcuts, no cutting corners — the same approach they’d bring to every job they took on.
The business they built in Texas had been forged in some of the least forgiving environments in the cleaning industry: hotels. High-volume, high-turnover, no-excuses work where the standard is set by the next guest who walks through the door and the missed corner you didn’t see on your way out. That’s the standard David and WendiSue carry into every home, office, and facility they clean today.
They named the business Nautilus Group — a nod to the shell’s geometry: careful, methodical, built from the inside out. That’s how they work.
Our Approach
When you hire Nautilus Group, you get both of us. Not a rotation of different people, not one person on Monday and someone unfamiliar on Thursday. David and WendiSue show up together, which means you get two sets of eyes on your space and the same two people on every visit.
That consistency isn’t an accident — it’s a decision. We know that having strangers in your home or office asks something of you. The more familiar faces you see, the more you can stop thinking about it and start trusting the work. That’s what we’re after.
The hospitality background shaped more than our standards — it shaped our attention to sequence. Hotel cleaning isn’t just about clean; it’s about reliable clean, in less time than you’d think, without anything falling through the cracks. We brought that discipline into residential and commercial work, and it shows.
We also made an early decision to use eco-friendly cleaning products — and to supply them ourselves. That wasn’t a marketing choice. It was practical: we know exactly what’s in our kit, we trust what we’re putting on your surfaces, and you don’t have to run out and buy anything before we arrive.
Credentials & Documentation
Nautilus Group Cleaning Services is fully insured and bonded, and operates as a licensed independent contractor in Montana. We’re also members of the Helena Area Chamber of Commerce.
If you’re a property manager, contractor, or government facility that needs documentation for your records — certificates of insurance, contractor license verification, or anything else — we have it and we’re happy to provide it. No runaround, no delays.
We understand that some clients, especially on the commercial side, need more than a handshake before the first visit. That’s fine. We’d rather spend five minutes sending you a document than have you spend an hour wondering if you made the right call.
Community
David and WendiSue moved to Helena to be closer to family. That’s still the center of it. But somewhere along the way, Helena stopped being where they moved to and started being home.
Membership in the Helena Area Chamber of Commerce isn’t a badge on the website — it’s part of how they show up in the community. They pay attention to what’s happening here, they root for the businesses around them, and they take seriously the trust that comes with working inside people’s homes and offices.
They built this business one client at a time, by doing the work and letting the results speak. That’s still the plan.
